With durability being one of our core design focuses, there really is no replacement for hand stitching. Saddle stitching, combined with a high quality wax thread ensures that the stitching integrity will stay intact as the pieces ware and age with use.
Hand-dyed leather
Whenever the project calls for the leather to be dyed, we use a process designed to create a dynamic and varied color pattern that shows off both the natural variability of the leather, as well as the hand made nature of the item.
O1 Tool Steel
We make all of our knives out of O1 Tool Steel. With its high carbon content, exceptional hardness, and wear resistance, O1 steel holds a razor-sharp edge and withstands the toughest cutting tasks.
Original designs
At Noctua Opifex we draw inspiration from many places including nature, industry, as well as the many makers who’s books and videos helped us get to where we are. But all of our patterns and designs are 100% original to us. Every detail is thought through and executed with the foundations of utility and durability in mind.
Range and Tanner’s marks
One of the primary reasons we enjoy crafting with leather is the story that leather carries with it. At Noctua Opifex, we choose to highlight the scars and marks that are evidence of this story. We feel these blemishes add to the one-of-a-kind nature of our products and gives each item that contains one, another unique detail. Item descriptions will contain an indication that a piece carries one of these marks.
